Returning "America's Plane" to the American people
Our vision is to restore the original Air Force One (a Lockheed Constellation commissioned by President Eisenhower in 1952 and the first presidential aircraft to use the designation "Air Force One") to the original condition as it existed when it flew global leaders around the world. Now called First Air Force One, it will be returned to the American people as a flying museum to speak in person to those extraordinary times in US history and attract new people to the fields of Aviation and STEM. First Air Force One will fly across the nation as a reminder of America’s role in today’s world. This aircraft symbolizes optimism and belief in the American dream that bolsters the human spirit – a message that reaches across generations. In the years ahead, we can look forward to the days when First Air Force One joins the air show circuit; when school children step inside and fall in love with aviation; when veterans can sit under the wing to relive the stories of their service to our country.
At the conclusion of the three-year work plan, First Air Force One will be completely updated and modernized in its operating parts but will look internally and externally as it did during President Eisenhower's eight-year term. When you enter the plane, you will expect to see Ike and Mamie come forward to greet you.
